Water Selection

Choosing the right type of water for your pool is a crucial decision that impacts not only the swimming experience but also the maintenance and overall enjoyment. At Splash in Style Pool Builder, we offer various water options to cater to your preferences and needs.

Chlorine Pools: Classic and Reliable

Chlorine pools, known for their classic reliability, continue to be a trusted choice among pool enthusiasts. Chlorine effectively maintains water clarity and sanitation, providing a tried-and-true swimming experience.

Minerals (Magnesium)

Mineral pool systems are gaining widespread popularity due to their ease of maintenance and minimal chlorine usage, even surpassing saltwater systems in these aspects. What sets mineral pools apart is their exceptional gentleness on the eyes, skin, and swimwear, making them the top choice for both pool enthusiasts and equipment longevity. These mineral systems work diligently to eliminate organic debris and impurities from the water, leaving behind a resplendent, velvety smooth finish. In addition to the aesthetic benefits, mineral pools offer the health advantages of magnesium, making them a holistic choice for those seeking the perfect pool experience.

Saltwater Pools: The Natural Alternative

Saltwater pools have gained popularity for their more natural and gentle approach to pool sanitation. Instead of traditional chlorine, they use a salt chlorinator to produce chlorine from saltwater. This results in several benefits:

  • Gentler on Skin and Eyes: Saltwater pools tend to be milder on swimmers’ skin and eyes compared to traditional chlorine pools.
  • Low Maintenance: The automatic generation of chlorine reduces the need for manual chemical handling and testing.
  • Enhanced Comfort: The absence of the strong chemical smell and feel associated with chlorine pools provides a more pleasant swimming experience.

Fresh Water Pools: A Crisp and Clear Choice

For those who prefer the feel of freshwater, we can create a traditional freshwater pool with precise chemical balance and maintenance.

  • Familiarity: Many pool owners prefer the familiarity of traditional freshwater pools, which are widely used and understood.
  • Customisable Maintenance: Freshwater pools offer flexibility in choosing the sanitation methods and chemicals that best suit your preferences.

Materials

Pebblecrete

Pebblecrete is a classic choice for pool finishes, offering both timeless aesthetics and remarkable durability. Comprising a blend of small, smooth pebbles embedded in concrete, this material delivers a unique and natural appearance that complements various pool styles. Its textured surface not only provides visual interest but also enhances slip resistance, promoting safety. Pebblecrete is renowned for its longevity, with the ability to withstand years of exposure to pool chemicals and fluctuating water conditions. This enduring material ensures that your pool remains an elegant centrepiece in your outdoor space for generations to come.

Waterline Tiles

Waterline tiles play a vital role in the upkeep and maintenance of your pool. Installed as a 150mm to 200mm band, waterline tiles follow the perimeter of your pool to help prevent pollen, sunscreen, body oils and other substances that enter the water from creating a yellow, scummy line at the pool’s waterline. This scum line can build up and leave a stain around the Pebblecrete which overtime can result in the pool looking outdated and be hard to remove. If the waterline tiles are added it is easier to remove, just like cleaning the bathroom tiles.

Coping Tiles

Coping tiles, an essential component of pool design, provide both style and practicality to your pool’s perimeter. These tiles cap the pool’s edge, serving as a finishing touch that enhances the overall appearance while offering functional benefits. Coping tiles are available in a variety of materials, including natural stone, concrete, and pavers, allowing you to select the perfect match for your pool’s aesthetic.

Step Edge Highlight Tiles: Adding Finesse to Pool Entry

Step edge tiles bring focus to the edge of ledges, swim outs and pool steps for easy visibility. They also provide some great safety features by highlighting the depth of the water when your friends and family are entering or leaving the pool – no more stubbing or scraping your toes.

Tiled Benches & Steps

Another option is to fully tile benches and steps to really make a statement, tiling the full surface of steps and ledges will create a ‘high end’ look, providing a smoother surface for you to sit on and save your bathers from the potential of snagging.
